Which Martial Arts Style is Right For You?
If you've never experienced Martial Arts before it can be a daunting task knowing which one to choose. Generally, the type of Martial Art you choose will depend on what you want to achieve. For example; self-defence, discipline, respect, physical fitness, strength and competition. Some styles can offer you all of these.
Unfortunatley, most of you won't know whether the style you choose will fulfil your aim until you have given it a try. That is why we offer all our new students a free trial first so that thay can have a no risk taster of what we have to offer.
For those of you who want a little more information first, here is a brief outline of the Martial Arts available.
Martial Arts can be split into two broad types: Armed and unarmed. Armed Martial Arts comprise such styles as fencing, kobudo and obviously firearms. Many of the weapon based systems are impractical for self defence though they are still popular, and some are useful for getting fit, though not many.
Unarmed combat in the Martial Arts is by far the most popular. It breaks down into 3 broad divisions: striking styles, which comprise kicking and punching, wrestling styles, which comprise wrestling, grappling and throwing, and finally styles which contain both striking and wrestling.

Our style is based on Traditional Shukokai Karate.
Karate means 'empty hand'.
Traditional Karate is one of the most difficult of the Martial Arts to learn as it requires the student to display power, speed and control. It is also one of the most effective Martial Arts disciplines to learn for self defence.
As well as having a Traditional background, we also incorporate other styles, such as Kickboxing, Boxing, Grappling and Akido, thus helping to develop all round Martial Artists.
